The Brighton Line (B & Q)
The western half of the neighborhood is served by the B and Q trains, operating on the Brighton Line. These lines run in an open cut parallel to Ocean Avenue, providing vital express and local service.
- Prospect Park Station (B/Q, Franklin Ave Shuttle): Located at the northwest corner of PLG, this major transit hub connects residents to the Franklin Avenue Shuttle for access to Bedford-Stuyvesant and Clinton Hill.
- Parkside Avenue Station (Q): Serving the southwest corner of the neighborhood, located directly across from the park.
The B train (weekdays only) provides express service through Brooklyn and Manhattan. The Q provides reliable local service at all times.
The Nostrand Avenue Line (2 & 5)
The eastern half of PLG relies on the 2 and 5 trains running beneath Nostrand Avenue. This IRT line provides crucial access to the East Side of Manhattan and the Bronx.
- Sterling Street Station (2/5): Serving the northeast section of the neighborhood.
- Winthrop Street Station (2/5): Serving the southeast section.
Estimated Commute Times
Under normal service conditions, estimated travel times from PLG subway stations are:
- Downtown Brooklyn / Barclays Center: ~10–15 minutes
- Financial District (Manhattan): ~20–25 minutes
- Union Square (Manhattan): ~25–30 minutes
- Midtown (34th St / Times Square): ~35–40 minutes

Buses and Cycling
For local trips, the B41 runs the length of Flatbush Avenue, providing a direct link to Downtown Brooklyn. The B44 runs along Nostrand and New York Avenues, while the B43 services Tompkins Avenue.
Cycling is increasingly popular, supported by the protected bike lane around Prospect Park. Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue serve as major north-south cycling routes, though caution is advised during peak traffic hours. Note that PLG is not served by the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR); the closest connection is Atlantic Terminal.
